ArtsyGeeksy is built around making things and sharing them with curious people. We are delighted when something we create inspires you, helps you cook dinner, introduces you to a composer, improves your game night, sends you outside to look at the sky, or gives you something interesting to think about.

We also ask that you respect the time, research, skill, and imagination that go into creating that work.

This page explains what you may share or use without contacting us, what requires permission, and how to request that permission.

Who Owns the Content?

Unless otherwise credited or stated, original content published through the ArtsyGeeksy family is owned by Just-n-Sun Enterprises, LLC, Sunny Simmons, Justin Towson, or another identified creator or licensor.

This includes original content appearing through:

  • ArtsyGeeksy and the ArtsyGeeksy Store
  • Justin Towson Music
  • Roll Model Gaming
  • EatsyGeeksy
  • Æthenæum
  • Our newsletters, social-media accounts, downloads, books, products, and related projects

Protected material may include:

  • Articles, essays, biographies, stories, and other writing
  • Original recipe introductions, explanations, notes, and photographs
  • Artwork, illustrations, designs, logos, graphics, and product images
  • Music recordings, performances, videos, arrangements, and original compositions
  • Gaming settings, adventures, maps, characters, creatures, encounters, and supplemental materials
  • Books, guides, worksheets, printables, and digital downloads
  • Photographs and audiovisual material
  • Website design elements, original software, and interactive tools
  • Original compilations, selections, organization, and presentation of material

Unless a page, product, or file includes a different license, all rights are reserved.

What You May Do Without Asking

We want people to discover and discuss our work. You do not need permission to:

  • Share a link to one of our public webpages, articles, recipes, recordings, products, or project pages
  • Use the sharing buttons provided on our websites
  • Quote a brief passage for purposes such as discussion, criticism, commentary, scholarship, or review, with clear attribution and a link to the original page
  • Save a page or download for your own lawful personal use
  • Print one copy of a publicly available article or purchased personal-use download for yourself
  • Cook one of our recipes at home
  • Adapt a recipe for your own kitchen, dietary needs, or personal preferences
  • Post your own photograph of something you made using one of our recipes, provided you do not copy our photograph or republish the full article
  • Listen to and share links to Justin Towson’s publicly available recordings through the features permitted by the hosting or streaming platform
  • Use a purchased gaming resource in your own private game, subject to the license included with that product
  • Link students, customers, readers, or social-media followers to our original webpage rather than copying the material elsewhere

When sharing a link or brief quotation, please identify ArtsyGeeksy or the applicable project and creator.

A simple attribution might look like:

Attribution is appreciated, but attribution alone does not turn an otherwise unauthorized use into an authorized one.

Please Link Rather Than Repost

The easiest and most helpful way to share our work is to link to the original page.

Please do not copy an entire article, biography, recipe post, gaming resource, image gallery, product description, newsletter, or other substantial work and publish it on another website, social-media account, newsletter, forum, app, course, or document.

Even when a creator’s name and a link are included, reposting an entire work may replace the audience for the original and may require permission.

A link sends curious people to the source. A full copy quietly moves the furniture into somebody else’s house.

Uses That Require Permission

Please contact us before you:

  • Republish an entire article, essay, biography, recipe post, or substantial excerpt
  • Reproduce our artwork, illustrations, photographs, graphics, or maps
  • Use an image from our websites as cover art, promotional art, décor, packaging, or merchandise
  • Print or distribute our material to a class, workshop, club, conference, organization, or customer group
  • Include our work in a book, magazine, newsletter, anthology, documentary, course, presentation, podcast, video, exhibition, or commercial publication
  • Use Justin Towson’s recordings in a film, video, podcast, advertisement, game, livestream, public performance, or other production
  • Sample, remix, edit, synchronize, redistribute, or commercially exploit one of our recordings
  • Reproduce or distribute purchased digital files beyond the license included with the product
  • Translate, adapt, dramatize, abridge, or substantially transform our written work for publication
  • Create merchandise, print-on-demand products, fabric, stationery, stickers, digital assets, or other products using our designs
  • Use our material in advertising, fundraising, political campaigning, or promotional work
  • Scrape, harvest, download, or systematically extract substantial amounts of site content or data
  • Use our writing, images, recordings, designs, downloads, or datasets to train, test, develop, or improve a generative artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system
  • Use our names, logos, project identities, or content in a way that suggests sponsorship, approval, endorsement, or affiliation

Permission may be free in some circumstances. Other uses may require a license, fee, credit line, usage limit, or written agreement.

Please ask before beginning the project. Permission is much easier to discuss before five thousand brochures have been printed.

Articles, Essays, and Biographical Writing

Our articles may draw upon historical records, public-domain sources, scholarship, interviews, references, and factual research. Copyright does not give us ownership of historical facts, ideas, discoveries, or the lives of the people we write about.

It does protect our original expression, including the way we select, organize, explain, interpret, and present that material.

You may independently research and write about the same subject. You may not copy our language, structure, distinctive analysis, or substantial portions of an article and present them as your own.

Brief quotations used for legitimate commentary, criticism, teaching, research, or scholarship may be allowed by law, depending on the circumstances. When in doubt, quote sparingly, attribute clearly, link to the original, or ask us.

Recipes and Food Content

You are welcome to cook, adapt, and enjoy recipes published through EatsyGeeksy.

We do not claim ownership of ordinary ingredients, basic cooking methods, culinary facts, or the general idea of making a particular dish.

However, our original recipe photographs, illustrations, introductions, stories, commentary, detailed explanations, distinctive written expression, and arrangement of content may be protected.

You may:

  • Prepare the dish for yourself, your family, or your guests
  • Change the ingredients or method for your own use
  • Share a link to the recipe
  • Share your own photograph of your results
  • Mention that your version was inspired by an EatsyGeeksy recipe

Please do not:

  • Copy and republish the complete recipe post
  • Use our photographs as though they show your version
  • reproduce our introduction, explanatory text, or personal stories
  • Compile our recipes into another website, app, ebook, course, database, or printed collection
  • Use our recipe content to draw traffic or revenue to another publication without permission

For adaptations published online, the courteous approach is to describe your own method in your own words, explain the changes you made, and link readers to the original inspiration.

Music and Recordings

A musical composition and a recording of that composition are separate works.

Some compositions performed by Justin Towson may be in the public domain. That does not place Justin’s particular performance, audio recording, video, production, artwork, written notes, or original arrangement in the public domain.

You may listen to and share links to publicly available recordings using the normal features of the platform on which they appear.

Please contact us before:

  • Downloading or redistributing a recording outside the platform’s permitted features
  • Using a recording in a podcast, film, video, livestream, advertisement, game, presentation, or other production
  • Sampling, remixing, editing, or altering a recording
  • Uploading a recording to another platform
  • Selling or bundling a recording with another product
  • Using Justin’s performance as background music for monetized or organizational content

Licensing requests should identify the recording, the project, the intended audience, the platforms where it will appear, and how long it will be used.

Gaming Material

Roll Model Gaming content may include original settings, adventures, lore, maps, creatures, characters, game mechanics, encounters, and downloadable resources.

Unless a product states otherwise, purchased gaming material is licensed for personal, noncommercial use. You may use it in a private tabletop game with your regular group and make reasonable working copies needed to run that game.

You may not:

  • Upload or distribute the files to a public or shared repository
  • Send copies to people who are not participating in your private game
  • Resell, sublicense, or bundle the material
  • Publish the material as part of your own adventure, setting, website, stream, or product
  • Remove creator credits or copyright notices
  • Use maps, artwork, lore, or other materials in a commercial game or publication without permission

Some products may include a broader license for virtual tabletops, organized play, educational use, or commercial streaming. When a product-specific license differs from this page, the product-specific license controls.

References to third-party roleplaying games, rules, settings, trademarks, or publishers remain the property of their respective owners. Such references do not necessarily indicate sponsorship, approval, or affiliation.

Æthenæum, Astronomical Data, and Interactive Tools

Facts about the sky, historical dates, astronomical events, calendar systems, and mathematical relationships are not owned by ArtsyGeeksy merely because we discuss or display them.

However, our original explanatory writing, illustrations, charts, interface designs, software, calculations, compilations, and distinctive presentation may be protected.

You may use independently obtained astronomical facts and data in your own work. Please do not copy our original articles, graphics, visualizations, interface, or substantial collections of results.

Automated extraction, bulk downloading, scraping, mirroring, or commercial reuse of information generated by an Æthenæum tool requires prior permission unless a specific tool or dataset states otherwise.

When citing an Æthenæum article or tool, please link to the relevant page and include the date on which you accessed any time-sensitive calculation.

Artwork, Designs, and Store Products

Purchasing a physical product does not transfer copyright in the artwork or design printed on it.

You may wear, display, use, give away, or resell the physical item you purchased. You may not copy the design, scan it, trace it, extract it from a product image, or place it on another item for sale or distribution.

Product photographs and mockups may not be reused for another shop, marketplace listing, advertisement, or product catalog without permission.

Purchasing a digital artwork file or printable gives you only the rights stated in the product listing or included license. Unless commercial rights are expressly included, the purchase is for personal, noncommercial use.

Digital Downloads

Each digital product may include its own license. Please read that license and the product description before using or sharing the file.

Unless otherwise stated, a digital purchase permits the purchaser to:

  • Download the file
  • Keep a reasonable backup
  • Use it personally and noncommercially
  • Print reasonable copies for the purchaser’s own use
  • Use a gaming product in the purchaser’s private game

It does not permit the purchaser to:

  • Share or forward the original file
  • Upload it to a shared drive, membership site, classroom portal, social group, or public repository
  • Resell or redistribute it
  • Alter it and sell the altered version
  • Use it to create commercial merchandise
  • Claim authorship or ownership
  • Remove copyright notices
  • use it for generative-AI or machine-learning training

Households, classrooms, organizations, gaming clubs, businesses, and other groups may contact us about an appropriate multi-user or commercial license.

Educational and Classroom Use

Teachers, librarians, museums, nonprofit organizations, and community groups are welcome to link participants directly to our public pages.

Please request permission before distributing copies of complete articles, downloads, worksheets, images, recipes, or gaming materials to a class or group unless the product’s license specifically permits that use.

Tell us what you would like to use, the approximate number of participants, whether access will be free or paid, and whether the material will be printed, displayed, emailed, or placed in an online classroom.

We enjoy educational uses and will try to find a reasonable arrangement when possible.

Reviews, Journalism, and Commentary

Reviewers and journalists may quote brief excerpts and discuss our work as permitted by law.

Please contact us when you need:

Providing a review copy or press asset does not guarantee a positive review and does not transfer copyright.

Public-Domain and Third-Party Material

Some ArtsyGeeksy pages contain material that we do not own, including public-domain works, historical images, quotations, embedded media, licensed assets, trademarks, and material used with permission or under another lawful basis.

Credits and source information are provided where appropriate.

Our copyright notice applies to our original contributions, not to material owned by someone else. We cannot grant permission to use third-party content.

If an image or other item is identified as public domain or licensed under Creative Commons or another public license, you should follow the terms and attribution requirements stated by the original source. Our formatting, restoration, annotations, captions, or surrounding article may still contain original protected material.

Fair Use and Other Legal Rights
